FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
What kind of podcast is this?
Want to know more about who we are? Check out the About Us page (here). We're a group of friends who make. We all dabble in a bit of woodworking in one way or another, but we also include painting, 3d printing, cnc woodwork, resin work, DIY, furniture, and just about anything else you can create with your hands.
Where are you guys located?
We're located in central Arkansas, about an hour northeast of Little Rock in Searcy, Arkansas, home of Harding University.
Where do you record your podcast?
We currently record in the workshop of Ben (Myers Woodshop), usually after the kids go to bed.
What hardware do you use to record?
Golden microphones (seriously, watch the YouTube videos). We are using a gaming laptop (here) and this set up from amazon HERE to record. It's a soundboard with 4 mics.
What software do you use to record the podcast?
We're using Audacity to record and edit, and Anchor.fm to host.
Where do you find your guest hosts?
The maker community is incredible. Once you find someone, they know someone, and on and on. It's amazing how many makers their is in your own community. All our guests are local to us, and we record with them in person, not over the internet.
Can I be a guest host?
Maybe! We're trying to keep it local (for now). We see the value in being able to see each other in the flesh as we record. Our town is only so big, so I guess we'll run out of new makers to feature at some point? Please message us if your interested in future hosting.
Does this make you money?
Now that we're using Anchor as our host, we can run ads and make ad revenue. This increases with listenership, but currently were making less than it costs to cover our custom URL for this site. The Build Guild Podcast is our labor of love.
Who did your podcast artwork?
Brian did using Adobe Illustrator and Procreate! If you need anything created, he's the man to contact!
Is your podcast sponsored?
Not yet! We do what we can in our spare time with our spare change. If you're a business and like to become partners in some way, please use the Contact US page and let us know! (here)
